He has long been engaged in research on plant nutrition and nutrient management theory and technology, and has achieved systematic innovative results in plant rhizosphere nutrition theory, farmland and regional nutrient management technology innovation and application.
He has won the second prize of the National Natural Science Award, the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the International Crop Nutrition Award of the International Fertilizer Industry Association, the Agricultural Science Award of the Academy of Sciences of Developing Countries, and the Ho Leung Ho Lee Science and Technology Progress Award.
He has published more than 300 papers in famous international journals such as Science, Nature, and PNAS.

He has long been engaged in research work on organic waste composting, organic agriculture, ecological agriculture, etc. Undertaken about 20 national-level scientific research projects and won five provincial and ministerial first-class awards. Published more than 200 academic papers, of which more than 60 were included in SCI, 20 authorized patents, published 11 monographs such as "Practical Manual on Compost Engineering" and "Agricultural Scripture", and formulated "Organic Fertilizer" (NY/T 525-2020) 4 other industry standards.

He has long been engaged in basic theoretical research and application technology research and development of efficient utilization of feed resources. A database of the effective nutritional value of my country's main feed raw materials in pigs was constructed, a dynamic prediction model of effective nutrients of feed raw materials was created, and my country's first dynamic model of pig nutritional needs was established. He presided over the revision of the 2004 version of the "Pig Feeding Standards" and made important contributions to the sustainable development of my country's breeding and feed industries. Won 3 second prizes for National Science and Technology Progress Awards, and formulated and revised 8 national or industry standards.
